CarText.com Limited, herein referred to as we or us, is dedicated to protecting the privacy of any personal information about you, that you provide to us. This privacy statement regulates the information about you collected by us by interaction with our website, by cellphone or any other manner. This privacy statement should be read in conjunction with the General Terms and Conditions of Use and, if applicable, the Spotter Terms and Conditions. By viewing and using the website you will be deemed to agree to this privacy statement. If you do not agree to this privacy statement you should stop accessing and using the website and you should not disclose information to us.

• Visitor: If you are just surfing and reading information on our website, then we collect and store the following information about your visit:
  • the IP address of your machine when connected to the Internet and the domain name from which you are accessing the Internet
  • the operating system and the browser your computer uses.
  • the date and time you are visiting
  • the URLs of the pages you visit
• Use of cookies: Our website requires the use of cookies to function correctly. Other than your email address (for a quick login) we do not store any other personal information in cookies. In addition we do not use cookies or any other mechanism to track you to other sites you might visit.
• Member: If you are a member or wish to sign-up as a member, then in addition to the information set out under "Visitor" above we collect and store the following information about you:
  • your full name
  • you email address
  • your home address
  • your gender
  • your telephone number or cellphone number
  • your password

  If you register your stolen vehicle with us on behalf of your insurance company then we collect the following:

  • Your vehicle's registration number, make & model and other identifying information about your car.
  • Information about the theft such as the date and location
  • Your membership details (as above) are saved with the vehicle
  • Your policy and claim number

  By registering your stolen vehicle with us you consent to have your membership information disclosed to your insurance company so they can properly assess its validity.

  In addition if you make a tip-off either by cellphone or interactively on our website, then we collect and link the information you provide about the vehicle to you as a spotter member. If you make a tip-off resulting in a reward payment, then we link this payment, including details of your bank account number to you as a spotter member.

• Use and Disclosure of Information: All information collected either directly or indirectly about you will not be disclosed to any third party with the exception of:
  • conforming to a legal requirement
  • protecting our rights or property

  Information you provide will be used by us in relation to the spotter programme (including your participation in such programme). Such use may include verifying your identity, corresponding with you, recovering stolen vehicles and making reward payments to you should you be entitled.

  When you register on the website and provide information in relation to a tip-off, and/or provide details relating to payment for a reward, you must make every attempt to give us correct and truthful information. Failure to supply requested information may result in your registration for the website being declined and/or prevent you from receiving a reward (as applicable).

• Access to, and correction of, your information: As a member you may access and change your personal profile at anytime by signing in a choosing "Profile" from the menu.

  Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 1993 you have rights of access to and correction of your personal information held by us. You can contact us at PO BOX 26-300, Auckland or using the "Contact us" menu on this website. We may charge you a reasonable fee for retrieving and providing you with this information.
